Pets are family too!

When renting, it is important to consider the needs of all members of the family… Including your pets!  Make sure to check the pet policies in your lease BEFORE signing on the dotted line.  Some landlords have limitations on the type of pets you may have, how many you are allowed and some don’t allow them at all.  Violating a lease can have serious consequences such as having to get rid of a loved one or potential eviction.  If you have a pet or plan on getting one, make sure to search for a pet friendly home and notify your landlord of all pets living on the premises.  It is common for landlords to require an additional pet deposit to cover any damages to lawns, floors, doors, etc., that may be incurred by your little friends throughout the term of your lease.  Also, make sure you are in compliance with the city’s and county’s pet policies.  They may require each pet in the household to be registered.
